Thrissur is the best place for setting up the proposed
Technological University because of its equidistance from southern Kerala and
Northern Kerala. This has already been aired by Mr. E. Sreedharan who is the
Principal Advisor of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation and Member of the State
Planning Board. His vision is correct and he has already intimated this to the
Hon. Chief Minister of Kerala Mr. Oomen Chandy. It is also seen that the
university may be located in Thrivananthapuram where government offices,
educational institutions and head offices of all utility services and their
numerous link offices jostle with one another in the already saturated state capital.
The idea expressed by Mr. Sreedharan is best because Thrissur is
located in the midst of the state and thereby has easier access to other areas
where further linking with other educational institutions from all parts of the
state is really possible.
However, it needs to be seen whether the government would heed his
suggestions or not. That Thrivananthapuram leads in the list of corruption
within government offices is quickly seen with most government offices situated
there and hence a better location would be to locate the university far from
the state capital. A decentralized location would go a long way in addressing a
fair and quality education for all sections of the society due to relatively
easier access and better opportunity for all.
How right is Mr. E. Sreedharan here yet who in politics and heads
of government really care for that.
