With the
passing away of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam India has lost one of its truly greatest
inspiring souls. His interaction with students, scholars, scientists,
politicians and even simple folks spoke immensely about his ability to draw one
and all towards him. In fact, each one of the citizen of this country thought
him as their guru and mentor. His simplicity was one of the most awesome gifts
of all and he quickly mingled with the crowd quite easily in spite of his
scientific brain and being the former President of India.
However, the
most inspiring of all these is the way through which he quietly articulated and
made both students and adults understand that while aiming for big goals one
shouldn’t loose the notion that one is always a student no matter what the age
is. This brings us to focus on the drastically changing environment around us
that are economically, socially, politically and culturally driven and which by
and large needs continuous updates as only a serious student of research would
be able to carry out.
Dr. Abdul
Kalam reinstated this with his remarkable flavor and his quick advices to each
and every query and which indeed is the secret of his own achievement. In a
changing world one must adapt and to do so we must not only be responsive to the
ideas expressed from great mentors, great men and great writings but also carry
on with our process of learning relentlessly to keep us updated every day
throughout our life.
